Satelite athletes Nicole Louw and Simonay Weitsz continued their excellent form this season by not only claiming National titles but also improving on their personal best times. Nicole Louw competed in the girls under 18 1500m and 3000m. She was crowned SA Champion in both these events and improved on her previous personal best of time of 9:42 (this this season) when she crossed the line in 9:33; which is a qualifying time for World Youth Championships to take place in Kenya this year.
Simonay Weitsz showed her class when she won three titles at the championships. She won the 1500m in an impressive 4:21 on Day 1. On day 2 she won the 800m, her time of 2:06.95 was just off her PB of 2:06.62 and then the 3000m in a 9:58.
Nicole Van Der Merwe had an impressive run in the girls u/20 5000m. She dominated the race from start to finish; her time was 17:22.
All three these athletes will be in action at the SA Senior Championships on 21-22 April in Potchefstroom.
Of the 13 satellite athletes that competed at the championships, 3 were crowned SA Champions and 6 achieved podium spots.
