The Sports Science Institute of South Africa:

Sports Science Institute of South Africa

Founded in 1994 by world-renowned scientist, Professor Tim Noakes and rugby legend, Morné du Plessis, the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA), nestled amongst the oak trees of Newlands, seeks to optimise the sporting performance and health of all South Africans.

This vision was generated through extensive interaction between Morné and Tim, together with other key role players. SSISA has a strategic alliance with and houses the University of Cape Town/Medical Research Council (UCT/MRC), Research Unit for Exercise Science and Sports Medicine (ESSM), headed up by Professor Tim Noakes.  This allows for interaction between SSISA’s various services, ensuring that these and the programmes they offer remain best practice and cutting edge.  It is this synergy and the ability to deliver a product from inception to the market place that distinguishes SSISA from similar institutions or organisations.

I come from a marketing background. I’ve been fortunate to be exposed to some of South Africa’s top photographers in the fashion and lifestyle sectors. Apart from having studied at CTSP, I’ve picked up priceless insider tips that one just can’t learn from a book or via a study course.
I believe in displaying my work in as natural a format as possible. Candid and unedited. As authentic as the moment in which each photo was shot. Capturing the creativity in adventure, the fragility in beauty and the rush of the unexpected.
Everyone has their own style. Hopefully mine will intrigue you, in the same way that life’s everyday moments, seen from a different angle and in a different light, surprise and delight. May your senses wander freely as you escape into the world of MMP…
