Weitsz finishes 26th at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Uganda


Junior satellite Athlete Simonay Weitsz was one of the top performers for Team South Africa at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships last Sunday in Kampala, Uganda.

Weitsz completed the 6km course in 20:56 (26th) and led her team to 8th Overall position. The race was won by Ethiopian, Letesenbet Gidey in a time of 18min34sec. The Top 3 teams in the Junior woman catergory was Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda. The SA Junior woman team, had four Endurocad satellite athletes represented in the 5 member team. Here are their individual performances:

Simonay Weitz- 26th: 20:56
Nicole Louw – 53rd: 22:15
Chery lee Schoeman- 63rd: 22:24
Nicole Van Der Merwe- 80th: 23:25
